The Engineers of Tomorrow competition, which pits more than 40 fire and security apprentice installers against each other in an installation competition, took place in June at IFSEC 2019. The competition, which takes place across 3 days at London ExCeL, aims to tackle the growing engineering skills gap.
Each apprentice had all competed in regional heats in colleges across the UK to become a finalist at the comeptition. They showcased their skills, working in pairs during a three-hour installation challenge, where they installed and commissioned an intruder or fire alarm system, including tracking and amending system faults.
The winners and their employers have been invited to the Security & Fire Excellence Awards, taking place in November, with cash prizes being awarded to the overall winners.
